I.C.T Officer

Primary Role:

The I.C.T Officer will be responsible for supporting and managing the hospital’s information and communication technology systems in line with healthcare standards and data protection requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and maintain hospital I.C.T infrastructure including servers, computers, printers, network devices, and telecommunication systems.
  • Ensure smooth operation of Hospital Management Information Systems (H.M.I.S), Electronic Medical Records (E.M.R), and laboratory/pharmacy systems.
  • Provide timely I.C.T support and troubleshooting to all hospital departments.
  • Manage user accounts, system access controls, and data security in compliance with patient confidentiality and data protection laws.
  • Perform regular system backups, updates, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Monitor network performance, internet connectivity, and cybersecurity threats.
  • Support implementation of new I.C.T systems and upgrades.
  • Maintain I.C.T inventory and prepare periodic I.C.T performance reports.
  • Train staff on basic system use, data security, and I.C.T best practices.
  • Liaise with external I.C.T vendors and service providers.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong understanding of networking, hardware, software, and cybersecurity.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and respond promptly to I.C.T emergencies.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 2–3 years’ experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of H.M.I.S/E.M.R systems and healthcare data management is an added advantage.
  • Prior experience in a hospital, mental health facility, or healthcare setting is highly desirable
